š·āāļø Jobsite Etiquette: What General Contractors Want from Commercial Electricians

When it comes to commercial new construction, getting the job done is only half the battle. The other half? Knowing how to work on a jobsite without being a pain in the ass.
At PB Electrical Services, weāve worked with dozens of general contractors across Griffin, McDonough, Fayetteville, and the surrounding areas. And one thing weāve learned? GCs talk. And when they find a subcontractor that doesnāt cause problems, they bring them backāagain and again.
If you're a commercial electrician, hereās what GCs and site supers expect (and why PBES gets invited back to every site we touch).
š¦ 1. Show Up Ready, Not Needy
Thereās nothing worse than a sub who rolls in late and empty-handed asking, āYāall got a ladder?ā We bring:
Our own ladders, lifts, and tools
Pre-wired boxes and pre-bent conduit when possible
A layout print and a game plan
We donāt show up expecting the GC to babysit us or supply us.
š§¹ 2. Clean As You Go (No One Wants to Trip Over Your Wire Scrap)
This oneās simple. If you wouldnāt leave wire shavings and drywall dust in your own house, donāt do it on someone elseās build. A clean electrician is a respectedĀ electrician.
š ļø 3. Donāt Wait to Flag Conflicts
If your stub-ups hit HVAC ductwork or plumbing pipes, speak up early. Donāt wait until after drywall to say, āWell, we didnāt have clearance.ā We walk the job with other trades and solve problems in real time, not during punch.
š§¾ 4. Communicate Like a Pro
We give GCs exactly what they need:
Clear status updates
Photos of completed rough
Accurate timelines (and we meet them)
And we keep our change orders clean and justifiedānot bloated or confusing.
š 5. Respect the Schedule ā And the Other Trades
The fastest way to get blacklisted? Blocking the painter, clashing with the HVAC crew, or not moving your guys when the slabās being poured. We hustle when itās our turn and move when itās not.
š”ļø Why PB Electrical Gets the Call Every Time
We do clean work, show up ready, and finish on time. Period.
Weāre not just electriciansāweāre teammates on every job weāre on.
Whether itās a ground-up retail store, a kitchen build-out, or a 60,000 sq ft facility, PBES delivers clean conduit, tight wiring, and no drama.
